C.R.A.M.P (Child Rape and Molestation Awareness Program)
Child Rape and Sexual Molestation is a grave and heinous crime that should not be tolerated in any decent society. The problem, however, is intensified in several Africa countries, which do not have adequate laws to protect children from these sexual culprits and pedophiles.
It is very disturbing to realize the fact that several molestation cases in African countries are unreported and undocumented, except usually in severe cases, when the children – boys and girls alike, require plastic and reconstructive surgery to correct the physical damage done to their vaginas in girls and anal cavities in boys. The long-term psychological and emotional damage that results from these acts, include severe depression, poor self-esteem, aggression, poor academic development, paranoia, and even suicide. It is also important to realize that most of the sexual predators that are infected with STDs and AIDS do not use condoms when they commit these crimes. Therefore, increasing the risk and possibility of STD and HIV infections amongst African children.
With the increased number of individuals with HIV and AIDS in Africa, the problem is on the rise because of the newly emerged “VIRGIN MYTH” that many individuals seem to believe strongly. The Virgin Myth basically states that an individual infected with HIV or AIDS can be cleansed and cured by having intercourse with a young virgin. In order to reduce and ultimately eliminated this horrific problem amongst African children, proactive actions are deemed necessary.
The Aranmolate Foundation will strive to do the following:
1. Increase local and international awareness of the child rape and sexual molestation problem in Africa.
2. The child must be indigent and parent or guardians are unable to afford all the medical expenses.
3. Document and report sexual molestation cases to appropriate humanitarian and law-enforcement organizations.
4. Protect these children from sexual predators and pedophiles.
5. Prosecute sexual offenders and sexual culprits.
6. Provide adequate surgical care for physically damaged children.
7. Provide adequate psychological care for the emotional state of abused children.
8. Collaborate with other humanitarian agencies and organizations to reduce and eradicated the occurrence of the child sexual molestation.
Possible reasons for the occurrence in African countries:
1. Poverty.
2. A legacy of violence.
3. Oppression among societies.
4. Orthodox traditions and customs.
5. Gender inequality.
6. Negligibly less or no specialized courts or provision for medical treatments.
7. High illiteracy rates.
8. Early and forced marriages.
9. Orthodox traditions and customs.
10. Unemployment.
11. Civil conflict.
12. Low status of women in the society.
13. Criminal Networks and Trafficking.
14. Child Pornography.
15. The ‘Virgin Myth’, meaning, ‘the idea that having sex with a virgin cleanses you of AIDS’ is a motivating factor of child rape in Africa.
