Founder/President
Dr. Segun Aranmolate graduated with a medical degree from Lumumba University in Moscow, Russia 1972. Upon obtaining his doctorate degree he went back to Nigeria, where he worked briefly as general practitioner. However, Dr. Segun’s great fascination for the operating room actuated him to travel to the United Kingdom in 1975. He began his residency in general surgery, and then later in plastic and reconstructive surgery. After five intense years in the operating room, Dr. Segun became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow in 1980.
Dr. Segun worked in the United Kingdom for one more year, before moving back to Nigeria in 1981. He always wanted to use his surgical skills to benefit the citizens of Nigeria, so he decided to work as a plastic surgeon in the Nigerian Navy Hospital. However, after working briefly at the military hospital, he realized that he wanted to reach out to the poor civilians in the country, who were usually unable to afford quality surgery.
He joined the federal government funded, National Orthopedic Hospital Igbobi, Lagos in 1982, as a consultant plastic surgeon. Two years into his tenure as a consultant plastic at one of Africa's prestigious surgical institutions, he obtained the fellowship of West African College of Surgeon in 1984. Dr. Segun invested 21 years of service into the hospital, and retired in 2003 as a Chief Consultant plastic and reconstructive surgeon special grade. He was the head of the department Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery for over 10 years. He was an associate professor in Burns, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in the Ogun State University Teaching Hospital, Shagamu (OOUTH). He is currently an associate professor in Burns, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, (LASUTH) from 2003 till date.
He has been involved in the management of many severely burned children of public interest since 1983. He is renowned in the African medical community for the spectacular case of Orie Eboka, who was a 10 month old baby girl that had suffered extensive third degree burns from a fire accident. Dr. Segun adopted Orie Eboka as his daughter and performed numerous plastic surgery procedures on her, eventually giving her the ability to live a successful life as an accountant. Dr. Segun continues to provide his service to the public and has been known to offer free plastic surgery to poor citizens.
He currently has a private practice in Lagos, where he performs plastic and reconstructive surgery on a wide array of individuals. Dr. Segun and his son, Olusegun, have founded the ARANMOLATE FOUNDATION for deformed children in hopes to provide free surgical care to African children with deformities and increase international awareness of the problem in Africa.
